I was never a sponge applicator fan when comes to foundation application. I always find that sponges would take more time of my life just to apply them and to blend them into the skin especially on my rushing day. I tried pretty much many types before of course the cheap version (from Daiso, Mr. DIY) because why spend so much when you wont use it?
However, my recent Haul at Sephora and Hermo made me bought both Original Beauty Blender and Breena Blending Pearl because if I really want to be in this makeup game, I think I need to try these two first. Beauty Blender is not new in makeup world. It has been there for many years and I wont talk so much about this product. In this post I will share more about Breena Blending Pearl just because
- Its new in the market
- Its made by one of Malaysian beauty blogger; Ms. Sabrina
- Apparently it as good as Beauty Blender
- Its more affordable
Having tried both Beauty Blender and Breena Blending Pearl, as a sponges applicator virgin, I think I would be able to give fair opinion and comparison between these both.
What is Breena Blending Pearl?
A baby pink soft latex free beauty sponge that can be used both dry & wet. Softer & expand when it is damp. Pointed tip for hard to reach area and spot correcting. Curved side, a soft and bouncy surface allows natural & airbrushed finish. Flat surface for a more high coverage finish & for powder/”baking” application.A baby pink soft latex free beauty sponge that can be use both dry & wet. Softer & expand when it is damped. Blending Pearl Care:
Dampen the Blending Pearl with room temperature water. Add baby shampoo/ antibacterial dishwasher liquid soap / proper brush shampoo to the Blending Pearl. Knead out the dirt from the Blending Pearl until it begins to lather. Rinse and repeat if needed. Then simply leave it out to air dry until you need to use it again.
Breena Blending Pearl comes in a clear plastic container – cylinder size. Clean Packaging with Product description at the back. This sponge is shaped like a water drop with a bit straight cut slanted at side. This sponges is sooo soft even when its still dry. When I ran this sponge under running water, the size expands double in size and is about the size of my palm. This sponge is super soft when its wet and damp until I feel like am squeezing boobies.
As recommended, I dampen the blending pearl and apply my foundation with boing boing motion. Just dab dab dab my liquid foundation into the skin. Because of its larger surface, I was able to complete my foundation application within less than a minutes? For more coverage, I can apply layers and layers of foundation without making it looking too cakey.
I tried both cream and liquid concealer and I love how it able to blend both formulas into the skin effortlessly. The pointy tip and slanted straight cut makes it able to reach at my inner corner of my eyes, my eyelid and side of my nose. Again, I love it because I was able to get smooth and flawless looks without looking too cakey.
I used my Sam Fong Powder for baking and I noticed because its damp, it was unable to pick more product. Hence, the powder application is more lesser and thinner on the skin. Again, the application is build-able and I can always add more layer to achieve the look that I want.
As I compared both Original Beauty Blender and Breena Blending Pearl, I would say that both give similar effects, smooth and airbrush finish to my foundation look. Both are latex free which is good – wont caused allergic reaction to the skin for those whom has allergic to latex. I love both sponges. I have been using and tried them both for a week. I wash them immediately every time after I complete my makeup look. I can be quite rough while washing them because I want to make sure the sponges totally clean and dirt free for my next usage. I am surprise that both product durability is superb and able to sustain my squeeze, pinch, pressure and twist motion. I really hope this product can last more than 6 months. Finger cross.
Although I love both, I would give more credit to Breena Blending Pearl because:-
- Its cheaper – this Breena Blending Pearl is cost at MYR35 (Now they having promotion at MYR30) and Beauty Blender is cost at MYR99. (I can get two Breena Blending Pearl for MYR70!!!)
- Its larger in size when its damp – Breena Blending Pearl has slight larger in size when its damp as compared to Beauty Blender. Hence, my foundation routine is more faster with Breena Blending Pearl as compared to Beauty Blender.
- Better in design – Breena Blending Pearl has slight slanted straight cut that give larger flat surface that would helps in Baking or powder application.
- More softer – Breena Blending Pearl is more softer in texture as compared to Beauty Blender (bright pink). Hence, the bounce effects to the skin is more softer and more delicate to the skin. For texture I was told that the Nude Beauty Blender apparently is more softer as compared to the bright Beauty Blender. But I cant prove this because I don’t have the Nude Beauty Blender to make the comparison.
I give Breena Blending Pearl 5/5 because all the elements I mentioned above. I would say that my perceptions towards sponges application for my foundation routine has now changed 360 degrees now. I definitely will re-stock Breena Blending Pearl. Thank you Breena Beauty and BRAVO for making a top notch sponge applicator. The Breena Blending Pearl has change my perception towards my foundation application routine.
Where to get it?
Would you give Breena Blending Pearl a try? Do you think Breena Blending Pearl is a perfect DUPE for Beauty Blender? Until we meet again in my next post. XOXO
